Abstract
This paper explores the evolution of constitutionalism in India, arguing that the principles of limited governance and the rule of law are not merely colonial imports but have deep roots in ancient Indian political philosophy. By synthesizing historical jurisprudence with contemporary legal frameworks, the study examines how the concept of Dharma functioned as an early form of constitutionalism, imposing ethical and legal restraints on the absolute power of monarchs.
