Government Development Initiatives and Rural Socio-Economic Transformation: An Empirical Study of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh

Abstract
Government has emerged as main agent and determining authority to control the direction and success of any kind of development and welfare oriented schemes. With the tools of introducing and implementing these development plans and social welfare schemes in an effective manner government can play active role in socio-economic transformation of rural areas. In order to assure the welfare and development of Kullu district, the government has launched various welfare and development oriented schemes in Kullu district. The present study is an attempt to analyse these initiatives of government, their role in socio-economic transformation and challenges being faced in effective implementation of these initiatives in Kullu district.
