A Comprehensive Review of Digital Learning Innovations and Technology Integration in the Implementation of NEP 2020
Main Article Content
Abstract
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a significant shift in India’s educational landscape, positioning digital learning and technology integration as central pillars of systemic reform. This study presents a comprehensive review of digital learning innovations aligned with NEP 2020 and examines their role in transforming teaching, learning, and institutional practices across school and higher education sectors. Drawing on policy documents, scholarly literature, and official reports, the review explores key initiatives such as DIKSHA, SWAYAM, PM e-Vidya, and the National Digital Education Architecture, highlighting their contributions to accessible and flexible learning environments. The analysis also considers emerging technologies, including virtual laboratories, adaptive learning systems, and AI-enabled tools, which support personalised learning and competency-based education.
The findings indicate that while NEP 2020 has catalysed substantial progress in digital adoption, implementation remains uneven due to infrastructural disparities, digital literacy gaps, and varied institutional readiness. The review identifies critical challenges related to equity, teacher preparedness, content quality, and technological sustainability. It also highlights gaps in empirical evidence assessing the long-term educational impact of digital innovations. Overall, the study underscores the transformative potential of NEP-driven digital reforms while emphasising the need for context-sensitive strategies, stronger digital ecosystems, and inclusive implementation frameworks to ensure meaningful and equitable educational outcomes.
